The 25-acre Tenderfoot 2 fire burning east of Dillon is 75 percent contained, officials said Thursday.

The fire showed no growth overnight. About 70 firefighters, including three hand crews, are working the fire Thursday, officials said. The crews are setting water lines for a thorough mop-up and are mitigating areas of heat, particularly beneath the power lines and in timber, officials said.

An exploded power line insulator cap ignited nearby grasses and set off the wildfire, which was reported about 5 p.m. Monday, officials said Wednesday.

The Oro Grande and Tenderfoot Mountain trails remain closed, and the public is requested to avoid the Tenderfoot Mountain area between Straight Creek and Frey Gulch roads for safety reasons.
