Thunderstorms will roll over the Denver metro area on Monday as the season’s first significant snowstorm continues to drop moderate to heavy snow in the mountains, forecasters say.
Winter storm warnings and advisories have been issued from Gunnison to Jackson counties. Up to a foot of new snow is possible in some locations.

“The heaviest snowfall will be mainly north of I-70 with lesser amounts south of I-70. The higher mountain valleys of Jackson county and northern Foothills may also see some moderate to heavy snow as well. The snow will gradually end this evening,” the National Weather Service in Boulder reports.
The high will only be around 52 degrees in Denver, according to the NWS.
There’s a 30 percent chance of rain in the morning and a higher chance for rain later in the day. It will get breezy with winds gusting to about 23 mph. The low temperature overnight will be around 38 degrees.
Temperatures will slowly increase during the rest of the week.
It will be partly sunny with high temperatures of around 55 degrees on Tuesday and 61 on Wednesday There’s a 20 percent chance for precipitation on Wednesday night.
Afternoon rain and thunderstorms are possible Thursday and Friday, when the high temperatures will be about 64 and 63 respectively.
Temperatures will peak in the lower 70s Saturday and Sunday under sunny skies, the NWS says.
