
A Westminster man has been charged with first-degree murder in the death of his mother.
Adrian Luis Ramirez, 23, also faces first-degree attempted murder and first-degree assault charges related to , according to the Adams County District Attorney’s office.
When police responded to a 911 call from a home, 7730 Lowell Boulevard on Oct. 7, they found Cherie Ramirez, 41, unconscious and suffering from a severe head injury. She was taken to Denver Health Medical Center where she was pronounced dead. Anecia Ramirez, 24, was injured and bleeding, but survived the attack, according to a news release.
The defendant was found inside the home holding a knife and a hammer.
Ramirez was advised of the charges against him Friday in Adams County District Court. A preliminary hearing has been scheduled on Dec. 1.
