The metro area should be very windy Saturday with gusts up to 35-40 mph, National Weather Service meteorologist Russell Danielson said. It gets stronger heading south of Denver toward Castle Rock, where wind gusts can be up to 60-65 mph, sparking a high wind warning that continues south of Pueblo.

A winter storm warning is in effect for northern mountains, including Rocky Mountain National Park. Areas could see 8-16 inches, potentially as high as 24 inches, through the weekend into Monday morning, he said.
