A 16-year-old boy has been arrested in the parking lot of Memorial Hospital Central early Monday.

The youth was arrested on suspicion of first-degree murder in the death, said police Lt. Howard Black.

The man’s body was found with an apparent gunshot wound about 12:30 a.m. near the hospital’s public entrance at 1400 East Boulder St.

The shooting didn’t happen at the hospital, police said. It’s unclear where it happened or whether the victim, whose name has not been released, drove himself to the hospital.

Police say they don’t have any reports of shots fired in the city around the time the victim was brought to the hospital, KKTV reported.

Anyone with information is asked to call police at 444-7000. To remain anonymous, call the Crime Stoppers Tip Line at 634-STOP (7867) or 1-800-222-8477.
