Re: “,” Nov. 21 news story.

The haves and the have-nots are becoming more defined in our “democratic” society. The justice system has always been a pay-to-play venue, as is access to health care. Commuting to work used to be a level playing field, but now those with financial means pay the high tolls for the best, safest and least stressful routes. Airline queues for ticketing and security now allot privilege by and for those with deeper pockets. The list goes on and on. Now our national parks are vulnerable, with a proposal to nearly triple entrance fees to some parks. This policy would be the beginning of turning the park system into a playground for those with economic means and pushing aside hard-working and limited-means families. Will our public library system be next with entrance fees?
