Enough with the crackerjack psychoanalysis and philosophical ponderings about Charles Manson. We’ve been dissecting the motives of this manipulative and freakish little man for far too long. Who really cares if he was forced to wear a dress when he was a child? To use his murderous life as a parallel to all thatap wrong with our society is ridiculous. David J. Ulin’s idea that somehow we all harbor the same hideous nature that powered Manson’s acts is absurd. He was not an agent of our collective darkness and this notion that violence and evil are the default attributes of humankind is just lazy thinking that invites the same fear that others like Manson take advantage of. Itap time to stop the guilty hand-wringing and shallow analysis of what is simply pure evil and nothing more. Itap time to forget how to spell this man’s name.
