Although snow had been in the forecast for early Tuesday morning the temperature didn’t drop low enough after climbing to a record of 81 degrees on Monday.

Temperatures hovered above the freezing level a few hours before daybreak.

The low overnight had been expected to be 32 degrees but so far the temperature has only dropped to 35 and isn’t expected to drop another 3 degrees, according to Kyle Fredin, meteorologist for the National Weather Service in Boulder.

Northerly winds will gust up to 20 mph, forecasters say.

Tuesday’s expected to be mostly cloudy, before gradually becoming sunny with a high near 47. The low Tuesday night will be around 29 degrees, the weather service says.

High temperatures will climb into the 50s on Wednesday through Friday and could reach 60 degrees by Saturday and 57 on Sunday.

The next chance for precipitation comes on Monday.
