A driver who t-boned Denver Police Chief Robert White will face multiple charges, including DUI drugs

The suspect driver suffered critical injuries in the September crash

Multiple charges will be filed against a driver who allegedly ran a stop sign and crashed into a Denver police SUV driven by Chief Robert White.

Temesgen Gebremedehin, 35, will be charged with third-degree assault, DUI drugs, leaving the scene of an accident, careless driving resulting in injury and reckless driving, according to the district attorney’s office.

White and another driver, whose vehicle also allegedly was hit by the suspect, are considered victims, prosecutors said.

The about 5:15 a.m. Sept. 29 at the intersection of East 16th Avenue and Willow Street as White was driving to an early-morning workout at a gym. Gebremedehin, driving a minivan, allegedly sped off after hitting the police SUV, running another stop sign and crashing into a pickup.

Gebremedehin suffered critical injuries and remains in a hospital. Prosecutors will file charges as soon as Gebremedehin is served a summons in the case.
