Workers install solar panels on a roof in Boulder.
Workers install solar panels on a roof in Boulder. (Helen H. Richardson, Denver Post file)

Re: “,” Dec. 5 editorial.

The Denver Post Editorial Board is correct to oppose subsidies for coal and nuclear power while also opposing tariffs for foreign-made solar panels. America needs a safe and clean power supply. Coal and nuclear power should be allowed to wither on the capitalist vine. The citizens of the world understand that carbon dioxide is a pollutant that is heating up the oceans and air. Nuclear power has shown that it carries too great a risk when compared to solar and wind technologies. Bring on the era of safe, clean, low-cost competitive energy. And while we’re at it, let’s put a fee on coal, oil and natural gas pollution since we are subsidizing the costs of global warming. The fee could be returned to the U.S. energy consumer.
