Dave Johnson is the new run game coordinator and offensive line coach, coach announced Tuesday.

Johnson, who has 34 years of experience coaching at the collegiate level, comes from the University of Ohio where he served in the same role for the past four years. The Bobcats ranked 16th among FBS teams in yards rushing (244.5 per game) last season, and set school records in both scoring (39.1 points) and yards per carry (5.7).

“Dave Johnson brings a great deal of experience to our program and has had success everywhere he has been,” Bobo said in a news release. “I was able to work with Dave at Georgia for seven seasons and he was one of the best teachers I’ve ever been around. To add a guy like Dave to our staff, with his knowledge and experience, will be a great addition to CSU.”

Johnson and Bobo coached together at the University of Georgia from 2001-07.

Aside from Ohio and Georgia, Johnson also coached at Massachusetts, Cincinnati, West Virginia, Marshall and Indiana (Pa.). Over his career, he has coached in 17 bowl games.

“The success of the programs where Dave has coached, and the number of players who have gone on to play at the next level, speak volumes about the type of coach and teacher he is,” Bobo said in a news release.
