Former FBI Director Robert Mueller, the special counsel probing Russian interference in the 2016 election, departs Capitol Hill following a closed-door meeting on June 21, 2017. President Donald Trump has said Mueller's appointment is unconstitutional.

Re: “Trump moved to fire Mueller in June, bringing White House counsel to the brink of leaving,” Jan. 25 news story.

This story is yet another example of why the Republican leaders in Congress must stop protecting Donald Trump and start protecting our country from Trump. He has little, if any regard, for our laws and the Constitution, which, when combined with his instability, makes him a serious danger to us all. He’s always done business this way and gotten away with it, but thanks to special counsel Robert Mueller, he will not get away with it as president. Congress must protect Mueller and his team and permit them to finish their important investigations.
