A Colorado Springs crook used an age-old ploy Thursday night to target a would-be Good Samaritan to carjack .

At about 9:20 p.m. Thursday, a man had just finished work and climbed into his car, which was parked at 2900 Galley Road, according to a Colorado Springs police report. He was about to drive away when another man dressed entirely in black immediately approached the car, pleading for help.

When the Good Samaritan opened the door, the suspect hit him in the face with the butt of a handgun and ordered him out of the car. The suspect then jumped in the car and sped away.

The license plate of the carjacked vehicle is 304-ZFU. The victim was not seriously injured, the report says.

The violent crime is all the more notable because it occurred just four days after El Paso County Deputy Micah Flick was gunned down by a car theft suspect.

In broad daylight, members of a regional car theft task force were about to arrest 19-year-old Manuel Zetina when he allegedly fired a semi-automatic gun killing Flick, and wounding two other deputies, a Colorado Springs police officer and a bystander. The citizen who was shot may be paralyzed.
