Littleton residents who woke up to find a SWAT team in their neighborhood Sunday morning have nothing to worry about, police say. The situation was resolved peacefully and without an arrest.
Local officers responded at 5:30 a.m. to a disturbance call in the 6000 block of South Sterne Parkway, across the street from Sterne Park, Littleton police spokesman Rick Redmond said.
According to reports, a person with a gun was located inside the home, and a child also was believed to be inside. The Littleton SWAT team was dispatched to the scene, and the department sent out an emergency notification to area residents warning them to stay in their homes, Redmond said.
After the SWAT team set up a perimeter, it was determined there was no child in the home and no crime had occurred, Redmond said. The SWAT team and other officers left the scene by 7:30 a.m., he said.
As many as 30 police officers were on the block at one time, Redmond said. He did not say how many homes in the area received emergency notifications about the incident.
