The Denver Nuggets have been unveiling their over the past few weeks and one name stuck out like a sore thumb: Jalen Rose at No. 38.

Don’t get me wrong, Rose had a very nice NBA career and should be included in a top 50 list for a few teams (Indiana and Toronto come to mind), but not the Nuggets. His career in Denver — where he was a first-round pick in 1994 — was brief and ended on a whimper. He started 74 out of 161 games over two seasons and averaged 9.1 points and 5.5 assists, before being traded to the Pacers in June 1996. After the trade, Rose admitted to The Associated Press he had a rough go in his final season in Denver: “I didn’t play with the same enthusiasm and emotion that I’m accustomed to playing with.”

Decent numbers for a brash, young player with potential. But hardly a résumé that deserves to be listed among the best of a 50-year-old franchise. Especially in a spot that’s ahead Kenneth Faried (No. 45), Wilson Chandler (No. 44) and Will Barton (No. 43), who made a bigger impact in the Mile High City. Heck, even Chris Andersen (No. 46) left a larger impression here.

This is a list of the top players, which should include criteria of longevity and performance — neither of which Rose produced here.

Oh well, let’s see where the rest of the chips fall over the next 34 days. For the record, here are my picks for the top five Nuggets of all time, starting with No. 1: Alex English, Dan Issel, David Thompson, Carmelo Anthony and Dikembe Mutombo. Sorry, Fat Lever.
