Rain and brisk winds in Denver, up to 10 inches of snow in the mountains

The chance for rain will increase Thursday night, with rain mixing with snow after 2 a.m.

Rain showers and winds gusting up to 25 mph are expected Thursday in the Denver metro area while between 5 and 10 inches of snow will fall in the mountains.

There’s a 50 percent chance of rain and thunderstorms, mainly after 4 p.m., according to the National Weather Service in Boulder. It will be partly sunny with a high temperature of around 65 degrees.

The chance for rain will increase Thursday night, with rain mixing with snow after 2 a.m. Little or no snow accumulation is expected in the Denver metro area.

In the mountains, ski areas could get between 5 and 10 inches of new snow by Friday morning. There’s a high wind watch for the Front Range Foothills, where wind gusts up to 75 mph are possible.

It will be mostly sunny with a high near 59 on Friday. It will be very windy with gusts up to 40 mph.

On St. Patrick’s Day on Saturday, it will be sunny with a high temperature of around 64 degrees.

There’s a chance of rains showers Sunday afternoon. The rain could turn to snow after 5 p.m. on Sunday. The chance for precipitation is 40 percent.

In the first part of next week high temperatures will range from 50 to the lower 60s.
