Stateline fire mostly contained after burning 28,105 acres across three states

Firefighters largely have contained the Stateline fire, which has burned approximately 28,105 acres across Colorado, New Mexico and Oklahoma.

The 10,330 acres that were burning in southeastern Colorado is 99 percent contained, according to the U.S. Forest Service.

The entire fire was 80 percent contained as of Saturday, according to New Mexico State Forestry. More than 17,500 acres burned in New Mexico and 112 in Oklahoma.

The fire started in New Mexico on March 8, moving into Las Animas and Baca counties on March 10.

It was fueled by piñon, juniper, oak and grass. Multiple agencies, including several from Colorado, worked on the fire.
