Storm could bring 3 inches of snow to Denver, a foot to the mountains

The foothills could get between 2 and 5 inches of snow by Thursday morning

A spring storm will leave up to 3 inches of snow Wednesday in Denver and up to a foot of snow in ski areas, forecasters say.

Rain and snow showers are likely beginning around 5 p.m. in Denver, according to the National Weather Service in Boulder. The high temperature will be around 50 degrees.

The chance for precipitation is 60 percent during the day and 70 percent over night.  Between 1 and 3 inches of snow will fall in Denver. Wind gusts up to 20 mph are possible.

The foothills could get between 2 and 5 inches of snow by Thursday morning. The mountains could get anywhere from 5 inches to a foot of new snow, weather service forecasters say.

It will be partly sunny on Thursday, with a high temperature near 51 degrees. It will be warmer on Friday with a high of about 62 degrees.

The highs will be around 58 both on Saturday and Sunday, according to the NWS.

Temperatures will reach the mid 60s the early part of next week.
