The El Paso Coroner’s Office has identified the man and woman who were found dead in a car in Colorado Springs Saturday night.

Serena Lee Garcia, a 21-year-old woman from Parker, and Marcus Howard Denton, a 20-year-old man from Colorado Springs, were found by police near Bergamo Way and Gold Camp Road. The two had gunshot wounds and were pronounced dead on scene.

Police have taken 19-year-old Nashid Rayon Rivers into custody on suspicion of first-degree murder.

The two are the eight and ninth homicides being investigated by the Springs police department in 2018. On Sunday, 21-year-old Brandie Preciado was found shot to death, the 10th homicide of the year. Last year, the city had 12 homicides at this time.
