Colorado Springs fight with police ends with Taser, pepper spray and obstruction charges

Both men showed signs of being under the influence of an unknown substance, police said.

Police in Colorado Springs deployed tasers and pepper spray on two men during a fight in an apartment building in which one man tried to jump off a second-story balcony.

Around 1 a.m. Thursday, police responded to 3300 E. Fountain Boulevard to check on a report of a disturbance, according to the Colorado Springs police blotter.

The two officers found no disturbance upon arrival until a man ran by police inside an apartment unit and slammed the door shut with an officer inside the room.

The man tried to barricade the apartment door, but the officer inside stopped him. The man then ran to the balcony and tried to jump off but was, again, foiled by police.

The man started fighting with officers and rallied other occupants inside the apartment to join him, police said.

The first man was tased, and a second man who began fighting police was pepper sprayed, polcie said.

Both men were apprehended by police, taken to a local hospital for treatment and served and released on obstruction charges, officers said.

Both men showed signs of being under the influence of an unknown substance, police said.

Police didn’t know the relationship between the two men.
