U.S. 287 reopened after fatal crash north of Lafayette

One person was killed and another was seriously injured

One person was killed and a second person was taken to a hospital with serious injuries following a two-vehicle crash on U.S. 287 early Monday morning in Boulder County.

The highway was closed until about 10:45 a.m. while the Colorado State Patrol investigated the crash, which occurred north of Lafayette between Isabelle and Arapahoe roads, Trooper Gabe Easton said.

Few details are available about the victims of the crash.

The collision happened before 6 a.m. A van and a car sustained heavy damage. A car came to rest upside down off the highway.

The cause of the collision is under investigation, Easton said.
