Police arrested a woman late Wednesday night for investigation of arson after she allegedly admitted intentionally setting several grass fires near Hancock Expressway in southeast Colorado Springs.

Nicole Green has been arrested for investigation of igniting wood or prairie lands on fire and for obstruction of justice, according to a Colorado Springs police report.

Colorado Springs firefighters received a call at 7:58 p.m. about field on fire at Hancock Expressway and South Circle Drive. Firefighters extinguished the fire, which did not burn any homes or buildings.

Firefighters later called police when they discovered that fires had started in multiple locations, indicating that it had not been ignited by natural causes, the report says.

When police arrived they saw a woman “wandering in the center median ditch of Circle Drive North of the burned field.”

Green allegedly admitted that she had started the fires. She then resisted arrest, the police report says.
