Mothers’ Day kicks off a wet week that is expected to see thunderstorms and hail. After a brief dry spell Wednesday and Thursday, another storm should move in Friday.
Sunday started with low clouds and a little bit of fog in the Foothills, National Weather Service meteorologist Russell Danielson said.
Temperatures are expected to be cooler in the morning before heating up to the upper 60s in the afternoon, he said. Thunderstorms are expected to develop in the late afternoon through the evening, potentially dropping hail.
The overnight low should be around 50 degrees, setting up another foggy and drizzly morning on Monday. Strong thunderstorms are expected again with a continued threat of hail. The high on Monday should be 66 degrees with an overnight low of 47 degrees.
Tuesday, which should have a high near 72 degrees, will be the last chance for thunderstorms before the metro area dries out Wednesday and Thursday. Temperatures are expected to rise to the upper 70s and lower 80s.
Another storm system is expected to move in Friday and Saturday.
