Colorado Parks and Wildlife is encouraging anglers to dangle a line or two Saturday and Sunday by offering across the state.
Normally a one-day fishing license costs $9 and requires the purchase of an annual Habitat Stamp, which costs $10. Annual fishing licenses cost $26.
The annual Free Fishing Weekend is the only two-day period that anglers around the state can fish without a license. That means if you’re a first timer, now is your chance to drop that line and give it a try. According to the most recent , the rain and beginning stages of runoff have increased flows on streams throughout the state, lake levels and filling up and trout fishing continues to be good.
So, there’s no time like the present.
The weekend may be free, but that doesn’t mean it’s free from rules. CPW publishes an annual 48-page fishing information and regulations brochure, . It also has an app (Google, Apple) called that includes locations, regulations, stocking reports and more.
