The convention’s name may have changed, but the punny beer-naming contest stays the same.

For the eighth straight year, Breckenridge Brewery is teaming up with the newly renamed Denver Pop Culture Con to create a brew for the festival. As in years past, there is a beer-naming contest open to the public.

The deadline to submit names is 4 p.m. Friday. Submit an entry in the .

Four finalists, selected by the DPCC and Breckenridge, will move on to a fan vote that runs from 5 p.m. Friday to 11:59 p.m. Monday. The winner will be announced Tuesday.

The owner of the winning name will receive prize package that includes free beer for a year and a DPCC beer tap handle. A local artist will create the design for the pint glass.

This year’s beer is a maibock, a style described by the brewery as “a malty, relatively strong German lager. Pale malts produce a bright color and notes of honey with toasted grain.”

Previous beer names include “The Fantastic Pour” (2012), “The Caped Brewsader” (2013), “Brews Wayne” (2014), “Hulk’s Mash” (2015), “Snape-ricot” (2016), “I am Brewt” (2017) and “Razznarok” (2018).
