The city has again closed the Lake Loveland swim beach because of high levels of E. coli bacteria in the water.

According to a post on the city of Loveland Parks and Recreation Department’s Facebook page around 10:30 a.m. Friday, the beach will be closed until further notice.

The post reminded viewers that people hoping to escape the hot weather could cool off at the free splash parks at Fairgrounds Park and Loveland Sports Park and at the outdoor Winona Pool and indoor pools at the Chilson Recreation Center.

The city closed the beach a week ago when routine testing showed the levels to be at 291 organisms per 100 milliliters of water, over the 235 per 100 ml level that triggers a closure.

It was closed June 29 and reopened at 10 a.m. the next day. Last week, the Parks and Recreation Department used its Facebook page to notify people of the closure and reopening.
