A severe thunderstorm warning has been issued for parts of the north metro area Wednesday by the National Weather Service.

Parts of central Denver, southwestern Adams and northwestern Arapahoe counties are under a severe thunderstorm warning until 8:15 p.m., according to the weather service.

Locations impacted include northeastern Denver, Aurora, southeastern Commerce City, southwestern Denver International Airport, Watkins, Buckley AFB and Arapahoe Park.

Torrential rainfall is occurring within the storm, and may lead to flash flooding in those areas, the weather service stated.

A flash flood warning has been lifted for east central Teller and west central El Paso counties. It had previously been in effect until 8:15 p.m.
