A foggy, stormy Saturday in the Denver area is not likely to rival severe storms expected along the Eastern Plains that could produce golf-ball-size hail and winds up to 70 mph.
According to the National Weather Service in Boulder, thunderstorms have a 50 percent chance of rumbling through the Front Range, with meteorologists expecting their appearance mostly after 3 p.m.
Saturday should see a high of 85 degrees, while Sunday is forecast to be deceivingly sunny and warm with a high of 80 degrees until late afternoon, when severe thunderstorms are expected.
Along the Eastern Plains on Saturday, the weather service listed potential storm hazards, including golf-ball-sized hail, strong winds and a slight chance for “a tornado or two.”
At least one structure was damaged after several reported tornadoes touched down throughout the Eastern Plains on Friday. The weather service said the chance for tornadoes would not be as high Saturday.
The best chance for severe storms will be east of a line from Cheyenne to Limon, according to the weather service.
