Firefighters worked for more than an hour Sunday evening to rescue a horse trapped in a trailer that had been tipped over and abandoned on a dirt road in Weld County.
The trailer had been reported stolen earlier in the day. Firefighters with the Fort Lupton Fire Protection District found a horse trapped inside when they arrived at the scene near the intersection of county roads 18 and 21, about 9 miles east of Interstate 25.
The horse was freed after about 90 minutes of work. It had minor injuries and was scared, but was in general good health.
