A person was killed in a traffic collision Thursday night when they drove their silver sedan into the path of an oncoming dump truck in Aurora.

The rush-hour crash happened at 5:18 p.m. at the intersection of East 6th Avenue and North Picadilly Road. The sedan driver was taken to a local hospital where they were later pronounced dead, according to Kenneth Forrest, spokesman for the Aurora Police Department.

The name and gender of the victim have not been released.

The deceased driver had stopped at North Picadilly Street, but then pulled out in front of a westbound dump truck on East 6th Avenue, Forrest said.

The dump truck had the right of way at the intersection.

Police continue to investigate the crash. They have no indication that speed or alcohol use played roles in the crash.
