
Football and food
Monday. When you see “football and food” you make think we’re talkin’ places to eat while you catch the first weekend of the 2018 NFL season. Oh boy, are you in for a treat because we mean so much more. The annual Taste of the Broncos is back on Monday, Sept. 10, at Broncos Stadium at Mile High (1701 Bryant Street). The night will feature more than 30 local chefs and, thatap right, schmoozing with some of the Denver Broncos in a tailgate-style evening. General Admission tickets ($100) get fans access to all the food and fandom starting at 7 p.m. VIP tickets for a whopping $300 each will find you in the Broncos’ locker room at 5:30 pm. Stanley Markeplace gets artsy
Through Sunday. Itap time to add a little art to your weekend mix. The fourth-annual Stanley Arts Festival will be held at the Stanley Marketplace (2501 Dallas St., Aurora) this weekend, and will bring together national and local artists. The party starts with a ticketed event ($45) in The Hangar Friday night at 6 p.m.. The rest of the weekend carries on for free with 100 artists, family activities, live performances, interactive art and more from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturday and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday. A Wonderful time
Saturday. The mashup of music, shopping, food and beer that is The Big Wonderful is finding its way from Denver to Westminster at 5453 W. 88th Ave. this weekend. Starting at noon, the musical lineup features Treehouse Sanctum, Morsel, Brothers of Brass and That Damn Sasquatch. Almost 30 vendors will be on hand to help you spend that fresh paycheck. A general admission tickets will run you $7 at the door or $5 if you score them online, or a Beerfest ticket is $35 at the door, $29 in advance (that includes unlimited beer, cider and spirits samples). All aboard
Saturdays and Sundays Sept. 8-23. Grab those overalls because Thomas the Tank Engine is chugging back into the Colorado Railroad Museum in Golden (17155 W. 44th Ave.). Each weekend in September, families can spend the day with the iconic character in real life. A Day Out With Thomas includes a train ride, a photo opp with Sir Topham Hatt, a petting zoo, temporary tattoos, Imagination Station, sing-a-longs and more. So yeah, those kiddos will be pooped by the time you get home. The experience runs from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day, but some sessions are already sold out. Make new friends
Saturday. The annual Friendship Powwow and American Indian Cultural Celebration makes its friendly return to the Denver Art Museum on Saturday, this time at Martin Plaza between 12th and 13th Avenues from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The free event, one of the museum’s langest-running, will feature dancing, drum performances, hands-on activities, food and more.
