One person was found dead early Sunday morning after a fire in a duplex north of Cherry Creek State Park, officials said.

Firefighters with South Metro Fire Rescue responded to the duplex in the 5500 block of South Lansing Way early Sunday morning, according to the agency. Flames were visible from the duplex’s basement and first two stories when crews first arrived.

The fire was under control by about 4:30 a.m., the agency said.

Firefighters found one adult dead inside the duplex that was on fire. Nobody else was inside the duplex and nobody else was injured.

Investigators remained on the scene early Sunday working to determine the cause of the fire.
