EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. — Notable ups and downs from Jets’ victory against the Broncos on Sunday.
UP: apountry in New York. Orange shirts were spread throughout MetLife Stadium at a rate so impressive that when paired with the Jets’ green, you might think the Miami Hurricanes were playing on Sunday.
DOWN: Colby Wadman. With Marquette King designated to injured reserve, the Broncos promoted their recently acquired practice squad punter, but Denver’s search for the right guy likely continues. Wadman’s first punt went 29 yards and his second went just 20 yards.
UP: Active hands. Two of ‘s first six Jets pass attempts were batted down at the line of scrimmage (linebacker and defensive end ). After halftime, linebacker tipped the football and Wolfe tallied his first-career interception.
DOWN: . The Jets scored two touchdowns on long chunk-yardage plays, ‘s 77-yard run and Robby Anderson’s 76-yard reception, with Denver’s No. 2 corner victimized each time. Roby missed tackling Crowell near the line of scrimmage and got burned by Anderson in coverage. Roby was also targeted on a 35-yard touchdown pass, Darnold to Anderson, to close out the half.
UP: . His first quarter 30-yard field goal conversion was certainly routine, but the Broncos’ specialist also crossed a major threshold — 100 career field goals.
DOWN: Dumb penalties. The Broncos were flagged for an illegal shift in the red zone (), illegal formation on kickoff coverage () and 12-men on the field (defense) during a Jets’ touchdown drive.
UP: Forced turnovers. The Broncos began the day without a takeaway over their past three games. Denver managed two on Sunday — an fumble recovery and the Wolfe interception.
DOWN: Keenum’s protection. The Broncos’ quarterback was sacked four times, including three on third-down plays, and harassed throughout.
