As snow begins to show in weather forecasts across the state, staff at one of Colorado’s many ski resorts fired up their snowmaking machines in preparation for another winter season.
Staff at Copper Mountain Resort, about an hour and a half west of Denver, started up the snow guns early Sunday morning. The machines coated the grasses with first layer of snow as the sun rose. The tips of the tallest mountains, however, .
The resort will open for the season on Nov. 16, spokeswoman Stephanie Sweeney said in an email. Crews started constructing snow fences at the resort last week.

Last year, the resort opened Nov. 10 despite a lack of the usual snowfall that worried a number of resorts.
