The lack of Broncos defensive execution Sunday against the Jets left some to wonder whether coach might assume play-calling duties from defensive coordinator . Asked Monday about that, Joseph said: “Itap all being considered.”
Back in the Broncos’ locker room, cornerback indicated he still has confidence in Woods as a play-caller.
“We just watched the game and I think I can honestly say, yeah, one or two bad calls,” Harris said. “The rest was poor execution.”
Defending the call. Joseph stood by his decision to go for it on fourth-and-3 from the Jets’ 6 with about nine minutes remaining and trailing 27-10
“There was no guarantee that you were going to get back inside the 6-yard line,” Joseph said. “The field goal, we could hit from 35-40 yards out. Fourth-and-3, it was time to go. It was my call, obviously, but it was the right call.”
Quarterback Case Keenum threw incomplete when right tackle and right guard allowed pressures.
Injury update. The Broncos added injury to insult Sunday. Vance Joseph called cornerback Adam Jones (hamstring) and left tackle Garett Bolles (ankle) “day-to-day” this week. Right tackle Jared Veldheer missed the Jets game with a knee bruise injury.
“(Veldheer) is probably a week away from actually playing again for us,” Joseph said.
King exit nearing. The Broncos placed punter Marquette King on injured reserve and promoted Colby Wadman to the practice squad for Sunday’s game. The Denver Post first reported the team intended to release King once healthy, and on Monday, it appears King confirmed it with a message on Twitter.
He wrote (@MarquetteKing): “I’d like to thank , and the Broncos organization for the chance, injuries suck…”

Seven of Wadman’s nine punts against the Jets had at least four seconds of hang time. His best punt was 57 yards (4.57-second hang time) but that kick was returned 51 yards. He began the game with punts of 29 and 20 yards.
