U.S. Highway 36 reopened between Estes Park and Lyons after a crash on the popular route to Rocky Mountain National Park closed the highway for more than an hour Monday afternoon.

The highway was closed from about 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. Monday between County Road 51D, about three miles east of Estes Park, and County Road 47 about 5 miles west of Lyons.

Drivers should still expect delays in the area as only one lane has reopened, the Colorado Department of Transportation wrote on Twitter at 2:15 p.m. Monday.

One person was injured in the single vehicle crash after their vehicle went off the road just before 1 p.m., Colorado State Patrol spokesman Josh Lewis said. The extent of the driver’s injuries weren’t available and law enforcement continue to investigate the details surrounding the crash, he said.

The crash occurred near mile marker 8, Estes Park officials wrote on Twitter.
