CDOT clears snow on Colorado 82's Independence Pass on Nov. 2, 2018. The Colorado Department of Transportation announced that Independence Pass on Colorado 82 will be closed for the weekend because of snow and wind.
says the two-lane pass will be closed at least through Sunday night. Crews will reassess conditions Monday morning.
The initial closure, scheduled for about 12 hours starting at 7 p.m. Friday, was extended because conditions were worse than expected. High winds and poor visibility are expected throughout the weekend.
The 12,095-foot pass usually closes on or near Nov. 7 each year.
