Chilly, snowy weather is forecast for Denver on Friday, but it will melt away as soon as it touches ground, according to weather forecasters.

There’s a slight chance for rain and snow showers before 2 p.m. The chance for snow will increase through the afternoon, according to the National Weather Service in Boulder. A mix of rain and snow showers are expected through 10 p.m.

Temperatures will climb to a high of about 45 degrees Friday afternoon in Denver.

Up to 4 inches of new snow is expected in the mountains.

More snow is expected over the northeast corner of Colorado in Sedgwick and Phillips Counties, where a winter weather advisory will take effect on Saturday, the weather service says.

It will be partly sunny on Saturday with a high temperature of around 45 degrees, the NWS says.

There’s a 30 percent chance of snow, mainly after 11 a.m., on Sunday. Temperatures will dip to around 18 degrees on Sunday night.

It will be very chilly on Monday. The high temperature won’t break above freezing, according to forecasters.

Temperatures will gradually increase next week, with highs in the mid 30s on Tuesday, 41 degrees on Wednesday and 42 by Thursday, the NWS says.
