Frigid New Year’s Eve temps keep drunken drivers at bay in Weld County

Only one person was arrested for a DUI in Greeley overnight

Single-digit temperatures and snowy road conditions kept impaired drivers off the road on New Year’s Eve, according to police.

In Greeley, one person was arrested overnight for a DUI, Greeley Police Sgt. Jim Roybal said.

“This is my 39th year here and thatap the lowest I’ve ever heard it,” he said.

In Evans, there were “no DUIs and very few calls, and only a handful of traffic stops,” Sgt. Tracy Moore said.

Most of the calls were welfare checks, but there was one call of a minor assault at Lit’l Bit Bar & Grill, Moore said.
