While its still the beginning of winter, Denverites will enjoy a switch from the bitter cold suffered on New Year’s Day to above normal temperatures on Thursday.

The high temperature on Thursday will reach 51 degrees, or 7 degrees above normal, according to the National Weather Service in Boulder.

It’s a big change from the high of 12 just two days ago on the first day of the year. The low temperature Thursday night will be twice that at 24 degrees.

Southwesterly breezes gusting up to 15 mph will almost make if feel like springtime, but that is still 2 1/2 months away.

It will be even warmer on Friday and Saturday when temperatures climb to the upper 50s and possibly reach 60, according to the NWS.

Denver will continue to have highs in the low-to-mid 50s at least through Wednesday of next week, forecasters say.
