University of Northern Colorado officials have shut down the gym in the Bank of Colorado Arena at Butler-Hancock Athletic Center after a homeless man climbed into the rafters.
Greeley police responded to the emergency Thursday morning, according to a university bulletin.
“A transient, who is unaffiliated with campus, climbed into the gym’s rafters and is refusing to come down as police negotiate with him,” a university bulletin said.
He’s unarmed and isn’t considered a threat to others, the bulletin said. Students should avoid the gym until further notice.
Classes in Butler-Hancock are not affected by the incident, and the rest of Butler-Hancock Athletic Center remains open, the bulletin said.
