A man shot by federal agents Friday afternoon in southwest Denver has died, Denver police said Saturday morning.

A woman, also shot by agents in the same incident, remains at a hospital with injuries that are not life-threatening, police added.

About 3 p.m. Friday, federal agents stopped a vehicle in the 200 block of South Canosa Court, in the Valverde neighborhood, while serving an arrest warrant for a probation violation, Doug Schepman, a Denver police spokesman, said Friday.

It’s not yet clear what sparked the shooting. At least one agent fired a weapon, according to police. The attempted arrest was not related to immigration, police said.

The man and woman were transported to the hospital in critical condition. The man was pronounced dead in the hospital Saturday, police said.

The agents were part of a task force organized by the U.S. Marshals Service, Schepman said.

No officers were injured, police said.
