The man who was fatally stabbed in the 3600 block of West Colfax Avenue on Thursday has been identified as Dwaine Nees, according to the Denver Office of the Medical Examiner.

An autopsy showed that Nees, 48, died of sharp-force injuries and the manner of death was a homicide, a news release stated.

Denver police arrested Robert Barros Jr., 55, less than a block from the killing, on suspicion of first-degree murder.

Police found Nees at 4:12 p.m. Thursday at 3636 West Colfax Ave., and he was transported to Denver Health Medical Center, where he died.

According to arrest documents, the two men got into an argument after which Barros allegedly pulled out a knife and stabbed Nees. He later fled the scene, according to police, but officers said they located him on Meade Street with a bloody knife and what appeared to be fresh blood on his hands.
