Fire investigators have determined the massive fire that destroyed the Arthur Grain Mill in Brighton earlier this month was caused by a discarded cigarette from someone sleeping in the abandoned building.

Brighton Fire Rescue announced the findings in a Facebook post Tuesday morning.

The two-alarm fire erupted in the early morning on Feb. 8, destroying the old grain mill. Dozens of firefighters spent the day battling the flames, which sent plumes of smoke billowing in the air.

Brighton fire chief Mark Bodane previously said that firefighters did not see anyone in the building that day. There were no reported injuries from the fire.
