Breckenridge Ski Resort confirmed an in-bounds avalanche Friday afternoon off of its highest chairlift.

Resort spokeswoman Sara Lococo said in an email that no guests were injured in the incident.

The ski patrol received a call around 12:25 p.m., she said, and the area was cleared by 1:54 p.m.

At 12,840 feet, the Imperial Express SuperChair is the highest chairlift in North America. The Twitter account said earlier Friday that the lift was open, after being closed on Thursday.

Friday’s incident comes as historic avalanches have pummeled Colorado’s high country over the past week, burying cars and closing highways for long stretches.

An Empire photographer was killed Thursday after being buried in an avalanche near Jones Pass.
