The Colorado Education Association promoted one of its officers to its top job this week.

Kathy Rendon, who has worked with the Colorado Education Association for about 10 years, was promoted to executive director on April 1, 2019.

Kathy Rendon had been the union’s deputy executive director and manager of its Center for Organizing.

She has worked for the CEA for about 10 years, and has two children who attend Denver Public Schools. Union officials credited her for organizing large demonstrations in April 2018 and for supporting local strikes.

The previous executive director, Brad Bartels, left in December to join the Utah Education Association.
