

The Avs kicked off their NHL playoff series against the Flames last night after losing 4-0 in Calgary.
We took a look at how Colorado (and the rest of the NHL) would fare in the playoffs in our NHL 19 simulation on the Xbox One. Here’s a look:
First round
- Game 1: Avs 5, Flames 3. Three goals from the MGM line in the third period carried Colorado to a late win on the road.
- Game 2: Flames 4, Avs 1.
- Game 3: Avs 3, Flames 1. Philipp Grubauer’s 27 saves were the key in Colorado’s win.
- Game 4: Avs 3, Flames 2, OT. Tyson Jost scored two goals, including the game winner.
- Game 5: Flames 3, Avs 1.
- Game 6: Flames 1, Avs 0. A stellar outing by Grubauer couldn’t prevent Colorado from closing out the series at home.
- Game 7: Avs 4, Flames 0. The offense came on strong, Grubauer was lights out. Colorado advances to the second round.
Western Conference: Las Vegas d. San Jose, 4-2; Dallas d. Nashville, 4-3; St. Louis d. Winnipeg, 4-3.
Eastern Conference: Columbus d. Tampa Bay, 4-3; Boston d. Toronto, 4-0; Carolina d. Washington, 4-3; New York Islanders d. Pittsburgh, 4-3.
Second round
- Game 1: Avs 4, Golden Knights 2: Sam Girard and J.T. Compher each had a goal and an assist.
- Game 2: Golden Knights 4, Avs 3, OT: Jonathan Marchessault scored twice to lift Vegas.
- Game 3: Avs 5, Golden Knights 2: Colin Wilson scored twice in Colorado’s win.
- Game 4: Golden Knights 4, Avs 2: Max Pacioretty scored twice and added an assist for Vegas.
- Game 5: Avs 2, Golden Knights 1: Gabe Landeskog and Nathan MacKinnon each found the back of the net.
- Game 6: Golden Knights 3, Avs 1: Colorado couldn’t overcome Alex Tuch’s two goals.
- Game 7: Avs 5, Golden Knights 2: Another series, another Game 7, another big win for Colorado.
Western Conference: St. Louis d. Dallas, 4-0.
Eastern Conference: Boston d. Columbus, 4-3; Carolina d. New York Islanders, 4-1.
Third round
- Game 1: Blues 2, Avs 1, OT: Jaden Schwartz’s late goal takes down the Avs.
- Game 2: Blues 4, Avs 2: Despite having 40 shots, Colorado was unable to take one in St. Louis.
- Game 3: Avs 3, Blues 2: Landeskog had two goals and an assist to lead Colorado to victory.
- Game 4: Blues 3, Avs 0: Colorado had just 19 shots against St. Louis.
- Game 5: Blues 2, Avs 1: St. Louis closes out Colorado’s season.
Eastern Conference: Boston d. Carolina, 4-2.
Stanley Cup Final: Boston d. St. Louis, 4-3.
MVP: Boston goaltender Tuukka Rask, 16-4-4 record, .940 saves percentage, 1.70 goals against average.
Other notes
- The Avs’ MGM line led the way for Colorado with 44 points in 19 games. MacKinnon had 17 points (7g, 10a), Landeskog had 15 (8g, 7a) and Rantanen had 12 (4g, 8a).
- Grubauer had a 9-8-2 record, .932 saves percentage and 2.15 GAA.
