A 58-year-old man was shot dead early Friday in his Lakewood residence, police said.
About 2 a.m. police responded to a report of a shooting in an apartment at 5410 W. Third Place, police said in a news release. When officers arrived they found Willie Carr dead of an apparent gunshot wound, the release stated.
Carr’s girlfriend told police she awakened to see a masked man standing over their bed, who then fired a gun, killing Carr.
An investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information on the shooting, or on a possible suspect, is asked to call police at 303-763-6800.
