A spring storm along Colorado’s northern Front Range is expected to bring a few inches of snow in mountain foothills and possibly in metro Denver on Monday, National Weather Service meteorologists said Sunday night.

“If we do get snow in Denver, it will be closer to sunrise, between 4 a.m. and 8 a.m. Most of the snow is going to be in the foothills, more up north towards Cheyenne,” meteorologist Kyle Fredin said as wind gusts blew through the city. “We’re looking at just a dusting up to about 3 inches in the Denver area.”

Monday temperatures in Denver are expected to hover in the 30s, Fredin said. Forecasters predicted highs around 36 degrees Monday.

For blooming flowers, a clear night Monday could take a toll with temperatures dipping slightly below freezing, Fredin said.

Tuesday and Wednesday temperatures were expected to remain relatively cool before warming around Thursday.

The weather service anticipated moderate to heavy snow across central and north-central Colorado with some snow also spreading onto the plains.
