Denver weather: Frigid temperatures could bring 2 inches of snow in the city, 2 feet in the mountains

Deep snowfall is forecast for the mountains Monday while Denver could get between 1 and 2 inches of slushy snow and frigid temperatures, meteorologists say.

Snow is expected to fall between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. in Denver, according to the National Weather Service in Boulder. It will be cloudy with a high temperature of 37 degrees.

Little or no accumulation is expected in Denver until Monday night, when between 1 and 2 inches of snow could fall, the NWS says.

Rain and snow showers are expected before midnight, then snow showers between midnight and 5 a.m., and then back to rain and snow showers after 5 a.m. The low-temperature Tuesday morning will be right at 32 degrees or freezing.

Thundersnow is possible Tuesday morning. Little new snow accumulation is expected Tuesday morning.

There’s a chance for rain and snow showers through Wednesday night, the NWS says.

Sunshine is forecast for Thursday, when a warm-up will begin. The high on Thursday will be about 64 degrees in Denver.

Friday will be sunny with a high of 68 degrees. The high temperatures on the weekend will be in the lower 70s, the NWS says.
